Adopt a Rescue Mastiff

We can’t say enough wonderful things about the Mastiff Dog. But, they are not for everyone and there are many factors that need to be considered in addition to the obvious… SIZE!

  • Mastiffs love to be with their “family” and will require lots of attention
  • While these dogs are gentle, they are big, so consider carefully if you have small children that can be accidentally knocked over.
  • Cost. Not only will it cost you more to feed this giant than a small dog, medical care will cost more as well, medication dosage is generally based on weight.
  • Yes, these giant dogs drool, snore and poop like a horse. Be aware.
  • You won’t need a huge yard for the Mastiff, they do not tend to “race” around. But on the other hand, if you live in a very small apartment or home, it may get a bit crowded. Consider your space limitations carefully.
  • Training. Very important. Take the time to properly train any dog. They are most happy when you are pleased with them. Help them do their job.

If you are seriously considering owning a Mastiff dog, we highly recommend considering adopting a Rescue Mastiff.

The Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoption organization is a non-profit foundation that rescues big dogs from all across the country.
